The Networked Teacher

As teachers we need to create our Personal Learning Network (PLN) to make easier our educational practice. The PLN, above, they were our family and friends, but since the internet and web 2.0 tools appeared, PLN’s can include social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, blogs, and so many more. Ultimately, anyone that you interact with is part of your PLN.

Also PLN is very interesting and helpful for people who work full-time. The advantage of people communicating online is the ease of finding and sharing information about anything, it is creative, catchy and collaborative and, finally, the group feedback that you get on ideas and projects.

Why is it good to use in schools?

In my opinion, the PLN influence on the educational process. The vast majority of children are connected to social networks, so students might find important to maintain web updates on their own scholarship. In that way the teacher empower their students to take control of their learning and make new connections with others who will strengthen their learning process. In addition, 2.0 apps, like blogs where they can give their give their opinion about anything, will probably catch the student’s attention, because they know the methodology and tools with which they work.

What can do teachers with 2.0 applications?

-          Can learn to describe and comment.

-          Can create stories.

-          Show ideas and data information.

-          Share opinions and points of view.

And all that can be used in the classroom with our students.

To finish, here is a video called “The Networked Student” that shows how on-line applications can improve the student’s skills.

About me...

Hi everyone!

I'm Alba Núñez and this is the first time I use a blog. I'm 23 and I live in Mataró, a town near Barcelona. This year is the last of my degree. I have been studying Teacher Training in Universitat de Barcelona but this second semester I'm going to do an Erasmus in Vienna. I'm waiting with enthusiasm for the day I left!

Besides studying, I'm working every afternoon in an english academy in my town where I teach primary school children. I work there for five years and I love what I do.

As for my hobbies, I like listening to music, go shopping, hanging out with my friends and, above all, travel.

Well, that's all I can say about me!

See you soon!
